Ingnition Cylinder Replace

i have another quick question about replacing my ignition cylinder and keyfob.
my keys were stolen and for some reason no locksmith around here wants to make me a new key. so im looking into just replacing the ignition cylinder. is there a relearn process after i swap out the cylinder? and is there a way to program a new key fob? also is there a way to delete a key fob? for instance im pretty sure the people who stole my keys are these junkies that moved on my block and my keys were stolen with the fob. is there a way to erase it so to speak so that old fob doesnt work? and make it so that only the new one does? i would take it to the stealership but i dont wanna drop a tone of coin. and i cant drive the car obviously without a key. im just looking for some clarification.

btw this is the new cylinder im looking at

and has anybody changed out the cylinder before? anything i should look out for?

I never replace the cyl myself, I had it done and the cyl was "rekeyed" for my keys.

That's not something you want I'm betting LOL but I'm pretty sure if you reprogram a new fob, the old one is deleted. At least that's the way it works with car alarms.

Keep in mind, that the door and trunk locks will match the old keys

yea im have those rekeyed to match the new key. and im asking about the fib cuz i read somewhere that u can have up to 4 fobs on the same car. hoping cliff can chime in on this..

Any GM dealer should be able to cut you a new key for a fraction of what the new cylinder would cost (especially if you're paying for installation)

i had a problem with my lock cylinder (it turned out to be something else) but i looked into it a lot and its wicked easy.

i called a junkyard and they say it only costs $10 for the part.
to get the part you just undo the radio bezel and the speedo bezel and unbolt a couple 7mm (IIRC) and bammo

Well, once you program new fobs, the old ones will no longer work with your car. So just pick up some off ebay, etc... They can usually be had on the cheap.
