Newbie Malibu (N-body) looking for engine parts
Hey everyone. I own a 2001 Malibu. I've had my bu since May 2008 and have been modding it very heavily since I've bought it.
I'm currently rebuilding a 3.4L engine from a grand am and tossing my 3100. I noticed that this site, along with 60degreev6.com, is much more active than other N-body sites concerning engine mods. This site seems more helpful on certain issues than cousin sites such as unitedmalibus.com and former malibuclub.ca, which went out earlier this year. I know this really isn't my site to be in but I thought it would help me out tremendously. I will also return the favor and assist in any way that I can. Here's the ride ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Me like... Welcome to the site, very nice car, thumbs up...
I love the custom upholstery and door panels... and the steering awesome car !!!! |
Welcome! nice work on that bu..
|
FINALLY SOMEONE WITH TVS IN THE CAR
now i get to ask the question....why? and do you actually use the screens on the visors? anyways its nice and its also slick and clean props for all the interior work now get to that engine! Welcome ! |
looks clean, any mods to the 3400 or straight swap?
|
love the interior!! good job , clean car man
|
yes, I'm attempting to port & polish bore it out and add a small (.009) stroker to it. Also, looking for a S/C to it.
I currently got a 4t45e tranny but will it handle the boost? |
A 4T45E can take a lot more than you think when tuned properly. AleroB and myself will tell you they take a shit-kickin before they go...lol Milzy has a swap to Grand Prix trans if your lookin to go all out though
|
Welcome to the site and that's one great looking Malibu. :thumb:
|
Nice car! Very clean and well done :D
The only engine part I have is a stock TB, if you want it, it's yours, just pay shipping ;) |
welcome!! Looks nice and clean!
|
wow great car. I like the interor and the system. what are u running for amps.
|
I like it, but way to many screens inside.... I can see the two on the seats along with the one on the dash, but sun visors?
|
I'm running a 0/1 guage wire from the battery to a power distributer spitting out 4 awg to all amps. The amps are Hifonics Hfi 1500 (quantity 2 for the Kicker L7 subs) and Hifonics Hfi 800 (quantity 2 for the MB Quart PVI 216 mids (2) and highs (4) ).
I appreciate all the comments and love shown everyone. Appreciate it Redog but I'm looking for a 65mm on up throttle body. I responded to a thread in a different section about a supercharger and hopefully its still up. |
I have a 65mm myself. Yes it's a good choice ;)
|
Hey man! Good to see another Bu!
I've watched your car on United Malibu! I LOVE the interior man! |

That supercharger is real clean. How about a forged 3500 crank? Interested in that at all? |
Welcome! The Malibu was my least favorite of the N-Bodies, but I gotta say yours looks pretty decent. Gotta appreciate all the time and work to get your car looking like it does.
|
Nice seats!! Is that all new leather wrapping? Where did you get it from? My leather is starting to crack and weather despite me conditioning and cleaning it, and I would love to do something like that!
|
That 3500 crank I may have to look into and if it may affect my stroker project also.
I use all of the tv's actually, except for the in dash. I try and just use that for stereo purposes, which I can also change to an auxillary for the tv. I have also used my drivers side sunvisor tv to view my back up cam. I hooked it up to an auxillary 2 setting directly to that sunvisor. It helps since its in site of my rear view mirror. Shiwnath, I always thought that the 98-99 cutlass looks like a rip off version of the malibu but to each there own. I got the seats done by an upholstery shop "Angels Custom Upholstery." I am very dissatisfied with his work though and don't recommend him. It was a drive thru upholstery shop that cut lots of corners that I had to fix. To the other mali owners here thanx for showing interest in my bu. This project cost me about $12,000 so far and am looking into a few more grand to complete. It sounds like a lot but think about it... compared to making payments on a new car you can: 1. Work at your own pace and design the car however you like 2. Save to get what you want instead of being in debt through financing 3. Learn tons about the car your interested in (hands on) Honestly, a new $20,000 car (stock base Cobalt) does not look as good or drive as good as mine. |
