i'm assuming you're talking about track races..so we'll just move this one to the track forum. and who the hell you burnin in a 2.2?
^ obviously someone who doesn't know poop about the 2.2
Not a good way to start posting on Aleromod

^Not with the B-Spot manning the keyboard.
lol.. just tryin to keep everyone in line here B)

You can "burn" quite a few cars with the 2.2 after a few mods, I hate people ragging on the 4 cyl just cause they assume it should be slow.....two words, less weight.

Whats your best 1/4 sunday alero?? |
Umm, don't know. I have not been to a track since I've had the Alero.
But, my point was not to say that the 2.2 is slow (i've never driven one), more that I did not think that 58lbs. would make that much of a difference. |
Someone posted the block weight differences between the 3400 and the ECOTEC... (final reality?) I searched and couldn't find the exact numbers but it was in the 100's of pounds. Plus a manual tranny is lighter than an auto. I'm not sure why the curb weights are listed at a 58lb difference to tell you the truth.
Interesting. That said, I gotta think a 4 banger would be the car to have, IF the aftermarket support was better... The 4's make almost as much power as the 3.4's stock, just not near as much torque, right?
/\/\ Yes
I wouldn't mind the 4 banger's gas mileage either. ;)
/\/\/\ Or manual tranny...
^ until your stuck in rush hour traffic going up a hill, then you wish you had an auto again :) Although the workout my left leg gets in these cases is very beneficial.
