Need Help with Battery and amp
So kinda noob but when I connect my power cable to my positive side of battery its so hard to screw in. :( any answers will def help me, is there any way to switch to a diff kind of battery say a battery with connections on top instead of those stupid screw ons? Thanks!

Well there are optima batteries with dual posts. But you can get an adapter if you do not want to spend the money on an optima battery. Now how bigger of system are u installing.
|
Yeah I looked at optima batteries but it's kind of expensive. Where can I get the adapters? I'm installing a kicker compvr 12" 800w max and 400rms with a 1000 watt amp 500rms. nothing really special.

This is what you want.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stinger-SPT8...fb7f&vx p=mtr It's the "GM battery adapter". They sell them at Advance Auto and they go for $4. |
Thanks it fit perfect and have no problems!!! Now to buy a new amp because it won't turn on lol. It was an older amp so i didn't think it would work. I also did my ground to my shock nut in my trunk.
|
Well when u installed the ground did u sand the paint off around the stud. Also check ur rca's and remote wire. Do u have a aftermarket radio.

I got a couple of those bolts from best buy when I still had a regular battery. I have an optima yellowtop with dual posts now. I love it, no more power drains! |
JLw7123: Yeah I sanded it and im running the rca cables opposite side of speaker wire and power cable. Yes I have a sony aftermarket radio. I'm trying to get an optima battery but they're so expensive.
|
Well the remote wire is the little blue wire running from the headunit to the amp that is what turns the amp on and off the power wire should be all alone running down the left side and the remote wire and rca's on the right. Now did you install the headunit yourself.
|
I picked up a new side screw bolt with an attachment to run something off the battery. I think it was $5 at Advance Auto. Works fine ;)
|
JLw7123: Yeah I did all of it myself. I have that remote wire and the power cable on the same side. I already connected it to the back of the head unit with the blue and white striped cable. I installed the side adapter with no problems. I have a pic ill upload but its a lil messy. Ill buy a new battery soon and clean everything. I'll be upgrading to a 4 gauge soon.

Are you sure you're not underpowering that amp?
Anything higher than 1200 watts or i think its 600 watts rms will need 4 gauge. |
Nas Escobar: Well I wont get a 4 gauge til I have the money to buy a new battery lol. But thats what Im planning for.
