Msd coil packs

Anyone have then if so is there aby difference with them vs normal coiles or no?

mfuller 02-16-2013 09:38 PM

They do a good job............................of lightening your wallet.

rustyballs_69 02-16-2013 09:41 PM

The factory coils are fine. No need for the MSD's.

G.I.Ceo 02-16-2013 10:34 PM

Yeah there is no need for them at all. No gain at all.

WIALERO 02-16-2013 11:04 PM

Well id figure id ask found a pair of them on good old craigslist for 50$ and was just wondering if they were any different

happyisthealero 02-16-2013 11:12 PM

Yup, I think I wasted my money as well..

WIALERO 02-17-2013 02:17 AM

Maybe ya just pay more for the paint and the name brand on it lol

MMGT1 02-17-2013 06:40 AM

Don't know if MSD picked up the quality or not, but a few years back, the guys on HP Tuners did some pretty in-depth testing and found the GM packs were actually better than the aftermarket performance brands out there.... including MSD

I have them. They look cool!

xXManwhoreXx 02-17-2013 08:28 PM

They are great quality but when people have done turbo build and such with the stock ignition system it makes them seem a little useless under 350whp

[ion] C2 02-17-2013 08:55 PM

WIALERO 02-17-2013 10:16 PM

GM ignitions are really good. Even going back to HEI distributors in the early 70's

A guy on Classic Oldsmobile is using a STOCK distributor in his 10 second street car. He tried the MSD ign and he gained .01 in the 1/4 mile. He tried it in another Olds which is pretty much stock, no gain. He sold it and got all his money back ;)
