So i decided to get my oil changed at wally world, and they come and tell me that when they took the bolt out to drain it, that it pulled some threds along with it....
well then they tell me that what they thought was threds was really a spring... so when they tried to put the bolt back the threds wouldn't hold anymore, so they decided to just put a bigger bolt in there with a rubber washer... and told em to get it fixed as soon as i could cause its leaking slowly... went to autozone, they cant even get em, ebay had one for a 2.4... not sure if thats the same as my 3.4? doubt it. Do I have to get it thru a dealer? So if anyone knows where i can get a oil pan for a 3.4 let me know... :( stupid walmart |
Drill out all the old threads then weld in a threaded bung in place of the original drain plug. I think it should work just make sure that you take the pan off the engine first and you wash it good so you dont set it on fire welding. or you may just beable to tap a bigger whole where the original is and put in a bigger bolt.

just go to the junkyard.
|
for any one who has changed there does the plug have a spring on it?
|
nope.
no spring. jsut a magnet on the end. |
Yep there is a magnet on the tip those guys at walmart are retards.
|
they should have to buy you a new one.
|
Thats why I change my own oil at least I know if I brake it its on me

did you learn your lesson??? change your own oil |
gezuz i dont even trust jiffy lube to change my oil....
you might be able to get a oversized one in there just have to use a tap to rethread it.. dont go to wally world again. then take the recipt up to wally world and say you owe me this. |
whats the magnet look like?
|
The magnet is on the very tip you wont realy realize it is a magnet unless you change your own oil becuase there will be little metal shavings on it, atleast mine always has a small amount of metal shavings on it.
|
It looked like this when they pulled out and they thought that silver thing was threds...
![]() unscrewed it... ![]() http://homepage.mac.com/ashmc84/.Pictures/...A5C25DC11D9.jpg Is that what you all have? |
I don't remember mine having that spring thing, although I could be wrong. my memory is poop. I can't remember how many sugars i put in my coffee 3 minutes ago, but I can remember the name of myneighbor's dog from growing up. i suppose drinking effects short term memory?
either way, Wally-world should cough-up the scratch to replace the oil pan, than i'd put the money towards something else. the oil-pan fix described by VTOLDS is right on the mark. Excellent suggestion. |
That looks like a heli-coil to me.
|
I ahve never seen a plug with t spring on it and that pic doesnt have a magnetic tip on the plug. my quess would have to be that the spring is to help keep the bolt from backing out by keeping pressure on the threads?
|
damn
looks like the threads pulled out of the oil pan go back to gay-mart and have them fix it |

Looks like someone screwed up before and tried to fix it with that. |
Id say go back to wally world and get the distric managers number , also on your recpit it should say who the f*** up was who did it, call the distric manager exsplain what happend and then threaten to call home office if they dont front the fix, I had a exsperience with them changing my ex oil the numb nuts never put the filter on.

Couldn't find what you said in the dictionary or any of these.
