i want to know what front and back speaker sizes are cause i want to up grade my system with out cutting new holes.
4x6 in front and 6x9 in back. Almost any size speaker will fit if you get a bracket. Sites like crutchfield send you the bracket you need to install say a 5 1/4 into a 6x9 hole. They're usually free. I'm sure other people know other sizes that will work.
were would you find a good pair of 4x6's
or ouwld you be better off finding a differant size and use adapters
i'd use 6.5's with adapters.
^^ What he said.
I have 4x6s in the doors and I need more up front. I've ordered a set of 6.5" Kicker components to replace them. I'd at least get 5.25''s. |
yea, 4X6 plates sound really good, but there's very little mid and all highs, i think if you could do it, the best thing would be to get some 6.5's in a q-logic kick panel enclosure, and some good 4X6 plates in the doors with a small 2 channel amp. then get some soundstream 6X9's on the rear deck, and two high rms 10's in the trunk with amps to give them all the power they need. then you'll want to get a .5 or 1.0 farad cap, and think about battery/alternator in the future.
Q-logic kickpanels suck. For a little bit extra money you can have some fiberglass ones made. But that is a good idea to have 4x6s and 6.5s.
yea, i know, but i'm talking about for someone with no expirience, and not trying to spend a whole lot of money. used kick panels are cheap.
Get some fiberglass kick panels. They sound great. I would definately get some components and not use the 4x6s. Look on ebay.

i think i saw you one day at the light across from bank america coming in gate 4, i think we were sitting next to each other.... there arent many auburn mist aleros with tint around here... was that you? this may have been a few months ago, but it's hard to miss a green alero with gunmetal wheels. |
My kicks really aren't that bad, the kind of tuck out of the way. Yeah that was a while ago but it was me. I was dissappointed to see another car like mine in hop-town the other day.
By the way, my car is rosewood, get it right ;) |
I always saw you across from those apartments in oak grove. I had a friend that lived in those apartments on that curve.
yea, i live there... and 03ecotec lives down the street before the light at pembroke.
yea, auburn mist, rosewood, whatever, they're all colors to me, if it's not blue, black, green, silver, or white it just falls under those, so i guess yours is like red. haha. but yea, for some reason i thought that was you, and its weird cause i didnt even know what color car you had or anything like that... it just clicked when i saw your vip signature. |
yeah, I haven't been around Campbell much lately though I kind of miss being on that side of town.
the design on those kick panels are retarded that is were your foot goes not your speaker. scince 4x6 are all trebble should i just get some subs and then i wont need bass on my speaks
obviously you've never sat in a car with kick panels. Maybe you can't tell from the picture but they use very little usable foot room. I have large feet and I have no trouble with them. Do a little research and find out what some 4x6s and some subs would sound like. Kick panels equalize the distance the soundwaves travel from the speaker to your ears. In other words, you don't have one 4x6 screaming in your ear while the other one is clear on the other side of the car. It completely changes the way the music sounds.

im a little lost here......but if its your car he's talking about, let him put a system in it...LOL 4x6+subs.....were's the midbass-midrange? i guess you get a little midrange with the 4x6's, ive got 4" components up front that get a good full midrange and up, but no midbass...that wouldn't sound to great. |
