I was involved in a car crash and my whole front end is pretty messed up...
My right headlight is intact and not damaged... but its really loose and sticking out. The wind is blowing it and one of the cables that connects the headlight is stretching out and ready to snap when the wind blows. I want to save the headlight because theres nothing wrong with it... and I'll save about 80 bucks if I save it. I tried to remove it... but the cable that is stretching out won't come off... How do I take the headlight off... there are no tabs/holders to pull off, they are gone. So all I need to know is what to disconnect and how. Thanks AleroGL02 |
The side maker and t/s bulb just twist and pull out. The housing itself has a plug in it over by the highbeam.
Just pull it out a little and if you cannot get the tab off, just take a flat head screwdriver place it under the front of the tab and gently push back toward the back of the hardness and the clip will pop off. It's very tight and be sure not to lose the grommet inside the clip  |

I got it off. Closer inspection in the light shows I have hairline cracks in it. Damn it. Oh well. |
Might be sealable?

I just hope its not totaled... I've never been in this type of crash... with this much of damage. |
Sounds like the person who veered into your lane owes you....@ least that's how it works in my state. I hope if it is totaled, that you get your car back good as new, and asap.

Blue book value still says its worth around 10,000. I'm hoping its not.. as I have a lot of memories in that car... good and bad. And I would have to wire my audio system all over again... which will completely suck since its cold outside. I'd have to dynamat all over... take door pannels off and switch those speakers, wire amp up, same with subs, do the speakers in the trunk, and the after market head unit which was a nightmare. However... if my car is totaled I won't be able to get a brand new Alero or the like. I get the retail value of the car (i think thats it... might be auction) which is 10,065. - AleroGL02 :) |
