Well I started my car up the other day and somethings wrong. The gauges didn't work, there was no heat, no power for the windows, and the service engine soon light came on. The car starts and drives fine though. Does anybody have any idea what the problem is or should I take it somewhere to have it checked? I did have a Viper remoter starter installed by Best Buy about a month ago. Could it have something to do with that?

yeah.. you need a new ignition key cylinder. the inside contacts are not contacting when ya turn the key. My bro's 99 alero had that problem. You can get a new cylinder and reuse your the old key part. The SES light is on cuz your gauge cluster isn't powered up.

If that's the case, try a freshly cut key first

So do you think it had anything to do with the installation of the remote starter? Because if it was then I could get if fixed for free. Otherwise, should I just take it to the dealer?

^^^^ i have the same problem, if i start with the key no guages or windows or air, if i start with remote start all is fine, i just haven't gotten a new ign yet.

Well, when I start with my remote, the gauges work, but the windows or heat still doesn't.
