i've heard that lowering your car does make the ride quality a little worse, meaning you feel more bumps, and "feel" the road better.
...but handling is better.

what would you use to make you "feel" the road less? what kind of mods??

this is just for fyi kinda info, personally i still want to lower my car...

air ride.

cherrington17 02-14-2005 05:47 PM

like the setups some of the guys on here have? doesn't that cost a few thou?

FormulaNERD 02-14-2005 05:48 PM

contact forbidden, or check the air ride thread.

~2100$

when u drop your car, using spring, or coilover, the ride is stiffer and actually that helps your vechile but you will feel more bounce. Air ride helps dampen some of the bounce but it still not gonna be like stock.

Rsm sells B&G springs which lower bout the same as eibachs but the ride is not far off stock. They stiffen up nicely just not as stiff as eibachs. These are the ultimate if you are looking for a 1.5 inch lower but not sacrifice ride quality. You will not be unhappy.

Yeah but for 300 bux plus shipping and not sure when you are gonna get em( my strut bar took over 2 months) I would just save....like I am now.

air ride.
NO NO NO it does NOT improve ride quality. its more bumpy and you feel the cracks but it handles way better. i thought a car would ride like a truck on air bags does cuz trucks ride like cadillacs but cars dont.

even when you let out some pressure?

Pimpalero03 02-14-2005 10:28 PM

nope. it would help out but its still not like riding in a bagged truck. i was kinda shocked when i got my aleor back and it didnt ride like i thought. when i hooked up with a local grand am with bags i took a ride in his car and it was like mine. but u get used to it.

geedog66 02-15-2005 06:36 AM

its because you have smaller profile tires... if you was to put your stock tires you would feel a difference

cherrington17 02-15-2005 10:25 AM

so there really isn't anything that makes the car ride better? or is it just not feasible? i've rode in a benz and a nicer buick and it was like you didn't even know you were in a moving vehicle... what are they using for that?

What about the the bumpiness of the ride overall...it certainly cant be as bad as springs and struts

thats part of the reason they cost more, alero's will never have that cushion ride of a caddy lincoln buick benz etc etc etc

taller tires, like switching from a 16 to a 15 would help some. dont get kyb's, get monroe sensatrac's.

we can handle "pretty good" with a pretty crappy ride.

Pimpalero03 02-15-2005 02:06 PM

i put my stockers back on before i stored my car, still had a bumpy ride. a lot better then the coilovers i tried though. lol

cherrington17 02-15-2005 02:19 PM

well, at least that cleared up some mis-conceptions about air-rides...
