Would it be a bad idea to have a Red top Optima if I had a system with 40 farad capacitor?
|

im guessin he means 4.0
I've never seen a 40 farad cap |
i dont think upgrading the battery is ever a bad idea when you have a system

they make 40 farad, they even make more than that...........although i cant even imagine the size of the system you'd have to have in an alero to need a 40 farad
|
I want a 15 farad but i dont have the cash :P lol
i think they make as large as like 50-60 or more Stinger makes some big ones. |
soundstream makes a 60 farad. i've heard of an 80. but your talk'n some serious power there...
|
I do mean 40 and the amps I run will want the juice. Still the question Yellow or Red. Would it be bad to have red instead?
|
i got a redtop but im thinkkiing of going with the yellow cause of the deep cycle
|
I wanna know where your gonna put 40 farad's. Thats a lot of juice to dish out. And chances are if you have a 40 farad cap, your gonna need more than one battery to dish power to that beast. I have a yellow top and have never had any issues. This was discussed in another forum and Yellow was decided there too.

I will keep that in mind. Might just start out with the basic 5 farad or so and upgrade later if I see the need in the light fading speed. :smokin: |
dam i hate the light diming i got a red top and the dim bad
im running only 500 watts a jl audio 500/1 |
if your looking to get rid of dimming, definatly upgrade the alternator first, then a yellow top. make sure when you upgrade the alternator to upgrade the wiring from the alternator to the battery, and the ground.
ive seen 40 and 50 farad capacitors, there not as big as you guys may think. i know the 1.0's and 2.0's are relativly pretty big, but my brothers 40 farad is about the size of my old 2.0...they've also come down in price alot. there's a new product out called a "batt cap" thats kind of like a mix between a battery and a capacitor, pretty new so i havn't heard alot about them. my brother sells them, there pretty cheap, small and lightweight. Alternator is a much better investment than the capacitor |
so if i do change the alt. what gauge do i change my wires too...
