In the How-To of "How To Tint Your Tail Lights", I guess I need some clarification. First off, how many cans should I buy, a rough estimate? Second question is why do we sand them, is this to help the tint stick? and does anyone who has done this have suggestions on what they would do better if they were to do it again. I would realy want to do this, just want to clarify before doing so. Thanks

Justin

When I did mine I bought 2 cans of VHT Nite Shades and didn't even use a full can. I don't know how dark you are looking to go, but one can would have done the trick for me. Also, I didn't sand mine to prep them, simply cleaned them with a wax/degreaser and then sprayed the VHT in light coats until I got the desired look. Then I put a few coats of clear on (until it all looked even). The finish has lasted through the winter and still looks perfect

I used one full can and like an 1/8 of another...I'd say if you're a lil more conservative with it you can get away with just one can.

yea one can should be enough........mine are a tad too dark i think i did 6 coats or so, but i messed up a lil.........i wish i would have waited a little longer between coats or just waited for the summer time so that it would have dry'd faster......i sanded it before which i think gets rid of the shinny coating on the tail light and helps the paint stick better.....

i didn't sand anything or use any clear coat and mine turned out great...and I've had it done for about a year now and it still looks like it did the day I did them
