Sorry, I know there's a lot of threads on LEDs, but I searched and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

I am interested in replacing the LED's for the HVAC controls and also for the window switches etc. which are attached directly to circuit boards already. I am sufficient in soldering, however I'm not sure what the LEDs on the circuit board are. Are they actual 12V 5mm LED's, or are they just normal LED's (probably around 3V or so)? I just need to know what to buy so they will be a direct replacement - just de-solder the current LED and replace it with a new one.
