Knock on wood, but I never had the problems you had, Yes I had to replace my tranny, but that was from the very hard starts at the race track. I had a 6" x 2" hole in my tranny case and it still ran and drove fine for a week, the tranny did slip once going uphill and the end of that week.

You must have had a ton of miles on your car to only get $2000 for your Alero, did you buy it used? Was it a used rental car?

If I was ever going to go with a Japanese car, I would go with a Nissan. I really don't think Hondas are as great as people make tham out to be, and yes wait until a major repair comes up
