Dont put a high pressure stream on it and keep ur engine running. and DEFINITELY dont spray the alternator, it will get inside and mess up the wiring that causes the magnetic field and f*ck it up royally, usually at a car wash they have a engine cleaner setting..just keep ur engine running so its up to proper temp and spray it down, works great ive done it plenty of times. As for dressin up ur engine they sell colored hoses n such, just get the rite size and put em on.
