Althought I didn't with the Alero, I had to with the Delta when I pulled the rear view off the windshield while trying the adjust it

You may have to take the "button" off the stem of the mirror and attach that first, then the mirror slides onto the button.

It's held in by a allen wrench bolt, but I forget the size, be sure not to overtighten the bolt!! Will cost you a wildshield
