Yeah, belts usually get changed at a certain mileage or when excessive wear is present. A chain (like on the Eco) will last a pretty long time without having to be changed. So I'd say unless you're having problems with it right now, you'll still be good for a while.

The Ecotec was pretty much over-engineered and built to handle a lot. I doubt anything you've heard about snapped timing chains is true.
