components generally are a set of speakers. a woofer and a tweeter, but with a crossover in between.
The crossover splits the signal sending the highs to the tweeter, midrange/lows to the woofer.
stock, our cars have a setup similar in the fronts. has a speaker and a tweeter, but no crossover inbetween.
