Test the MAF sensor. If the MAF was disconnected from the throttle body at some point and you ran the engine like that then the MAF resistor overheated and it's prolly shot. The MAF resistor must be cooled off by intake vacuum. It has to be connected to the throttle body all the time while the engine is running. Does it make sense? Anyways just a tip.
