i'd think the biggest trouble of switching the power line... would be how to connect a wire thats, at least 8ga, to a switch. it'd take a good electrician to pull that off, and they'd know better.


essentially, what your looking to do is use the remote wire on a switch.

from headunit(remote wire)-----switch--------amp

this will allow you to turn the amp on and off, but only when the car is on. so if by mistake you leave it on when you leave the car, it turns off anyway.

Those remote wires are there for a reason, and for this exact reason. (on both sides. the amp side and the headunit side. they built it there to be used, don't ignore it)

and my buddy who was somewhat of an audio/electrical genius always told me, to just connect a small 12V lightbulb to the capacitor. something that requires very little current. When the bulb goes out, the current is gone. And led would work too. And since they run only .02a, that thing will be VERY discharged when it goes out... it'll just take a while.
