Pimpalero, I had no problems with the plastic being eaten. From the research I've done and the people I've talked to, they all told me to use mineral spirits or paint thinner because you want the krylon fusion to bite into the plastic and to hold. It helps with bonding the new color material with the stock, raw material. By using mineral spirits, it removes the factory coating over the plastic. I'm pretty sure a quick wipe is fine. Especially when you are coating the pieces with a new surface and color. It helps to avoid chips and scratches.
