The aluminum tape is actually sticky on one side, it's used for stovepipe joints and such.
Initially I was using it to try to keep road crap out of it, but...you see how far that got.
I'll start a thread later regarding the rust...

Under the hood it looks pretty good...there is a small bend at the front of the hood, but otherwise the metal looks OK. It appears all the broken stuff was the black energy adsorber stuff. All the lights work even... Horns are OK too. (ok...i had to install a crude horn switch since the airbag deploy broke the pressure plate connection in the center)
I think the corner impact forces pushed the plastic lower shirt back far enough where it pulled out from the fender bolts...
When it warms up some, I'll drop the fender skirt, screw the fender bolts out, reinstall with some large body washers and all should be well. (I'll just have to remember to not take any more hits there...
)
