The defrost and antenna circuits on the rear window are completely separate.
Since you mentions tint or something on it I suppose it could be broken, but I would not remove it unless the tint material is conductive (meaning that conducts electricity). I'm thinking that the more you mess with it, the more likely you are to break one of the lines.
