I changed out the stock starter. It died on me a day before I left for a vacation to Hawaii. 13 years and 123k miles on it. At first Autozone gave me the wrong part.
It seemed like the exact same but nope, even after shimming it still gave a grinding sound against the flywheel. Swapped it for the correct part and viola! Starts better than ever. I guess I could have done a how-to. Oops, next time.
