Hub rings have nothing to do with bolt pattern, but the hub bore size. Stock wheels have a hub bore that exactly matches the hub on your vehicle. Aftermarket wheels often have bigger hub bores to allow them to fit on more vehicles, and you use hub rings to fill the space to take the weight off the lugs and back onto the hub.

Exactly! Always use the rings with aftermarket wheels.
