I have 18 and 17, and the 18 definately looks better. However, I bent 2 of my 18" rims this winter on the crappy highways in NJ, they forgot to maintiain them this year. If you do a lot of driving and the roads are poor, and your Alero is your daily driver, 17 might be the way to go. But I love the look of my 18" a lot more.
