the ebay infinity's are by far the best. the next best would be the first set of infinities.
personally, i have a set of references in my doors and they are amazing. good "loudness" and crystal clear. i love them. definitely suggest you pick up the ebay ones.

Check out the infinity from circuit city. The ones on ebay are 2 ohm. If you will be running off the HU opposed to a aftermarket amp then you need a 4 ohm model. If you are using a aftermarket amp then a 2 ohm speaker would be pretty nice. I personaly like the infinity over all the others. Look at the kenwood and the pioneer. Pioneer in particular rates there product for 35 htz capable. No 4x6 will ever handle a 35htz load. Even the 75htz the infinity rates is a stretch. If they over rate the products in this way, then how can you rely on the rest of the product.

I got Blaupunkt components and 6x9s (replaced every speaker in the ho) for $100 (inc. shipping).....from Crutchfield. I waited for this awesome deal, and man do the 6x9s ever kick.

2 ohm amp will be loud, but not very clear. 4 ohm can still be good for loudness, but will be much clearer.
most home theatre systems run on 8ohm. which is why they sound soo good.
every time you half ohms you double wattage. (or vise vera)

Im with mike and cherrington on this one, If you want somehting to jujst replace the stockers then get the circut city infinitys, but if you plan on spending some money then go for the ebay infinitys and get an amp and an aftermarket deck if you dont already have one.
even at 2 ohms it will sound fine. I have 2ohm compments in my rear deck and they sound great. Before they were in the rear deck they were my fronts in another car, sounded great and were dam loud!

The sound quality at 2 ohm will be the same as 4 ohm bridged. If not, then your amp company is overrating some products. They both produce the same amount of amperage which is where the distortion starts to come into it. If the amp has a high amount of distortion or THD then most likely it will sound pretty bad at 4 ohm, 4 ohm bridged or 2 ohm. Home amplifiers use 8 ohm because they do not require the amount of wattage to perform like a car speaker. Your cars interior noise and the placement of speakers are what make it so difficult to get a good sound. I have seen many home amplifiers that were 6 or 8 ohm and had THD's of over 15 percent. Sony's home class D they came out with 2 years ago was one of them. Absolutely one of the dirtiest amps produced.

remove the crap stock speakers and put them there. it's a waste of time and effort to try and figure out anywhere else to put them

You never want to do that with a full range speaker. Subs can be hidden away, but you need everything else pointed at you. Never point them at the carpet, your feet, etc. or most of the sound will be lost. As others have said, replace the stock speakers with the new ones.

Use a small regular screwdriver.
