Ok, so I was wondering what people have done to install their rear speakers. I got some Pioneer 4way 6x9's, and used the old plastic mount that was in there. I dont get much bass as I should for some reason though. All options have been tested, and all I can conclude is that its the way that the speakers are seated in the rear deck. So my question is, is there a better way to get a good seating in the rear deck, such as cutting away part of the hole that the speaker sits in or what. Whats the best way to have them in there for the Alero to get the best sound.

I used the factory plastic with a little modding. Mine sounded great. I was just using a set of kenwoods. I now have to replace them though becasue They got blown out by my subs.

What kind of audio system do you have? Are you running them off the stock Monsoon amp or are you going off an aftermarket headunit or amp?

reason they dont thump as well might have to do with the fact they stock system has an amp to the speakers

My stock system was not the premium sound option. It was a radio/cassette unit. and did not have a GM amp. I have heard other cars with just a aftermarked HU and aftermarket 6x9's, and they are way better than what I have now. My buddys 99 Civic just has a Pioneer 50x4 HU, and still the stock 6x9's and his is way better bass than mine.

go through all your settings..or you could have wired it wrong, thats a big possibility, if youre reversed the +/-, then you wouldnt have much bass...i'd check that if i were you

I am 100% positive my settings are optimal. I know this HU inside and out. I purchased a new Pioneer 7600 yesterday, so when I install that, im going to doublecheck myself when i splice together the new wiring harness to it. Other than that, I was wondering if for the most part everyone who has aftermarket 6x9's is still using the basic plastic trim and stuff where the 6x9 sits in the rear deck or if its better to cut out part of the deck or what. Also, if anyone is really good with electronics maybe you can give your opinion. I still have the stock speakers up front, and i know that they are 8 ohms. Could that be causing a problem electrically? However, even when i have the sound faded all the way to just the back, its still the same amount of bass as if I have all 4 speakers running.

I still have my factory fronts and a pioneer 6400 and my rears thumped pretty hard before they blew. Like it was mentioned before make sure you have the polarities correct as GM uses odd color combo's

Light blue...right rear -
dark blue...right rear +
brown...left rear +
yellow...left rear -

At least that's the way it comes out of the headunit on mine, which was the premium with CD & cassette. I know that's not what you've got, but someone with your type of system may not know exactly, and I really doubt that this would differ between different systems...
