Question...
Whenever I turn my car off and get out, and while shutting the door, I get ownt by static. Like whenever I shut my door touching the body I get staticized to the extreme. It's not cool. Anyone else have this problem?

Yea, I've had it sometimes. Like for a 3 days everytime I got out it'd shock the back of my ankle.
No idea why though, haha.

when it gets cold out the clothes you wear will create a static change and then when you get out you will discharge it on the first thing you touch that is metal. that is why in the winter time when filling up your car it is a good idea if you get back inside you car well it is filling up to get out and touch something metal before you touch the gas pump. if you don't will might spark and cause gas fumes to catch fire and then say good bye to your car.

hazmatt, it's actually not because of the cold, it's because it's dry, it just generally happens when it's cold because the air gets so dry

It happens to me all the time, but i wouldn't say its because its dry, here we have about 50 to 70 % of humidity in the air regularly.
I'm gettin used to it, when closing the door i kinda slams my fingers slightly on the metal to get the static off.

For whatever reason, it sucks.

easy solution
Jesus.. I thought everyone knew this one..
A GROUND STRAP!!!!!!!!!
Put two of them if you get zapped..
As you drive, specially in cold dry air, your car develops a charge (static) from your car passing through air..
And since your car is on rubber, your car stays charged.. until you ground it out but stepping out of the car..
Use ground straps.. those weird things you seein hanging from the backs of cars that touch the ground when your stopped..
You can buy one.. or make one EASILY..
I have one hanging under my rad. and one off my bumper..
It is aircraft cable, that is screwed into my frame.. it has to touch your body or frame to work correctly.
Make it JUST long enough to touch the ground when stopped.
EASY as pie..
