Subs
My sister is getting two new 10" subs for her car. She has an 1100W amp. Does this mean that each sub has to be able to handle 1100W or does the amp split the power between the subs so that each one only has to be able to handle 550W each? What would be the best wattage for each subwoofer?

would that be good??? cause she doesnt want crazy amounts of watts, but this is a good deal for a name brand.

How many channels is there on the amp?
For exemple, my amp is a 300W RMS, 600W peak and it is a 2 channel that are pushing 150W RMS stereo 4ohms each. I bridged it to get 300W RMS on one mono sub with the two channels at 2 ohms. My sub is a 300W RMS 1200 W peak, never had issues, but it's more complicated then that.

hmm, well i told my sis to get on here and type what she wanted to say,
but her main concern and mine too, is.....
She bought these 2 10" subs from some guy she knew...i think? and they came in a box and everything, so she brought it to boomer mccloud and got them installed. Now after almost a year of having them, they sound like ASS, she cant even have the bass up when she has her radio on, cause they rattle and shit, so we both think that she blew her subs cause the amp she has is too powerful for the subs.
So now, shes getting 2 new 10s and she wants to know does she need bigger wire cause these subs will push out more bass than her old ones?? i mean, we were just gonna go buy 2 new ones, but then we thought about the wiring.
Now im not sure on the rms on our amps(we both have the same one), i run 2 12"s on my set up, but the main question is should she get new gauge wiring???

think of the speaker wire like a straw. The smaller wire is going to be like drinking a milkshake through a coffee stir, and the larger wire is gonna be like drinking through a McDonald's straw. I wouldn't worry too much about the amp being too much for the subs to handle, you can always turn the amp down.
