I just started modding my 00 black 3.4 alero and i was just wondering, what is the best way to go about tinting my windows. I dont want that cheat stuff that scratches off and looks purple. Any input would be nice....

Depending on where you live in illinois, try a place called ziebarts, I think they have a new name....oh yeah CarSmart. They will do all around tint, any shade, for 150, lifetime warranty, and promises it will not fade, scratch or turn purple.

that would be my guess since you know you cant tint the windshield....just have a tint shop tint your windows instead of doing it yourself unless you have experience.

^ See if you can find the stuff called Titanium Tint! Extremely dark and lasts a lifetime... I had mine done almost 3 years ago and there is no bubbeling and it looks just like it did when they installed it... only cost me $130 including the front window banner...

i have a '99 2dr and it cost me $125 plus tax to have it tinted... i suggest you take it and have the tint job done by a professional....if you don't know what you're doing you could really screw up the tint and turn your car into an eye sore... have it done, the best way to go

Also you might want to check local tint laws. Unless you aren't worried about that.

The tint laws in South Carolina are 28% but the cops don't really enforce it up here so I'm probably going to go 2.5% all around with a 10 inch eyelid.

I paid $170 to have mine done, and he normally charges over $200. So price can vary, just make sure you go somewhere they'll warranty it forever and that you know does good work.

I wish when I tinted mine I would have gotten them darker, but I was asked if I wanted to be legal or not and I said legal. Why I said that I have no clue I would rather have no tent than to have it tinted like mine lol. Oh well I guess I will make it darker later.

I feel your pain. I used to have 5% all around, then I moved to Hawaii and got a ticket for illegial tint. So I had to peel my poop. So now I got 35% the legal limit. poop sucks, but I guess it is better than nothing.

I did dark tint in the backs, of my 2 door coupe, and 30 in the front. It looks good. Not too much of a tinting contrast. Also I did not want to be pulled over for tints. I already have probably 10 speeding tickets under my name already. Also take in consderation, if you have light interior, you will be able to see through the tint still. This will help if you want to still be safe on legal tint, but still get the darkest u can get. If you have black interior the 30 will appear darker. I have the grey interior. The window is dark, but when the sun hits my dash, it lightens the tint. So those gay ass cops can still see me, and keep driving their asses right on by to the nearest Dunkin Donuts.

All tint will eventually fade. Some last much longer. Go to auto-zone and buy some, ...youll be ridin with purple windows within a few months...
I do know that the metallic based(or whatever they call it) holds up the best. prolly what bdyman can hook u up with, as 3M makes the good stuff. Mine was done in sept. 01 and its just EVER SO SLIGHTLY starting to fade a lil. barely noticable(only at day) tho.
For IL, laws:
up to 5%(limo) on back doors and rear window
NONE on driver and front passenger doors.
hope this will help ya
