alright, one of the things i am thinking about doing is a vertical door conversion. has anyone tried this before? i have done a little bit of research and found that the kit from lambodoor.com is a diy kit. how do you guys think that would look on a two door alero? (feel free to speak your mind as what you say will have little to no effect on what i do)

It is a real tough conversion to do, and it will take a lot of effort and time. It would definately be cool to see though.

Man, verticals would look great on an Alero. But the fab work is gonna be a "B". I didn't see the part where it said "DIY", but if it is, "DDIY" (Don't DIY) unless you work at a shop because you would hate to F-up your doors and have no one to blame but yourself. On the domestics lists, I didn't see the Alero mention (or any N-bodies), and more than likely never will. I recommend trying the lambo kit from AutoLoc. I personally don't know anyone with it, but it's universal and AutoLoc has been known to put out quality products.

thanks for the autoloc reference sportalero. i havent heard of them before. the deluxe kit is a little much but the standard kit is priced in the range i was expecting. i didnt know the kit from lambodoors.com was a diy kit until i emailed them asking if any of their applications would fit. here is what i got in response:

Hi,

This is a Do It Yourself kit. You get the parts, and you
save the money. Parts cost around $90-200 are available
at your local auto parts dealers, scrap yards, and even
Walmart. What you get is an installation manual and
software. Shipping the parts increases the overall
cost of the kit, which can be picked up anywhere.

The conversion takes about 18hrs to do, or a weekend,
and will require an aide of a friend or family member,
someone needed to hold the door in a vertical position.

After your conversion is successful, we recommend sending
us your pictures and in exchange we will send you a vinyl
LamboDoors.com Decal that can be placed on your car.

Price including shipping and tracking number is $64.99US.

We look forward to your order, this is the coolest modification
you can do to your car, and much cheaper than a body kit.

Regards,
Sales
LamboDoors.com

no way! a free decal! after thinking about that kit more it seems kind of shady. i also looked at verticaldoor.com but they want 10 pre-orders before they start the kit, obviously thats not going happen for something that costs $1600. well i am going to keep thinking about it. i am about 70% sure i want to do it right now. i am not going to do it myself either so i gotta check labor prices. i'll keep you guys posted.

^^That's more like a "Do-It-ALL-Yourself but give us all the credit" project. And all you get is a manual, some software, and a decal for 65 bux? What are they ? Try askin a couple of shops about AutoLoc. Of course they'll try to tell you about VerticalDoors and Decah, but be sure to tell him you drive an Alero. I'm pretty sure their response will be "A what"?

I wanna make my car fly!

But the vertical doors would look decent on a 2-door. Haven't seen em on an Alero yet...

they possibly could, but I have heard from alot of people and alot of shops that the doors will neverc lose right because of the hinge style. Since the doors sits sideways on 2 normal hinges the door can swing shut no problem, bt now your making the door go up on an angle and stressing the body a little more with diff weight on 1 bigger hinge.
