what'd i break now?

ok. was going around a mustang and he decided he didn't want me to pass him sooo the rest is history. but, anyway, here's my problem. i had the pedal to the floor and car is accelerating as usual...then, it starts doing this thing where i think i'm in 3rd gear and it speeds up then hesitates then speeds up then hesitates and so on and so forth. it makes a dull noise when doing the hesitations in acceleration and i'm not sure if i have a miss in my engine or if its the transmission doing something crazy. i kno that i'm going to be needing a new transmission eventually due to lots of slipping last winter so i dunno is the trans is giving out or what. i'm kinda freaking out because i can't afford a big problem at the moment.... sooo, if you know what might be wrong, let me know and hopefully its not bad news.

speed limiter? Pinned you can hit that in 3rd. Sounds exactely like it, when the engine backs off it usually makes noise then you can go again up to that speed, then it backs down again, well you get the idea.

i wasn't going that fast when it was doing it....somewhere around 60-70 mph. i wasn't watching the tachometer though so i don't know if it was the engine hitting the redline. and if it was hitting the limiter, why wouldn't it just shift to the next gear?

My ZX2 did this when i played with the intake, it turnded out on of the hose's i used kinked and the car was starving for air. Maybe its somthign wrong with the intake. I took all the stuff off got a real intake and it all wnet away.

wouldnt be speed limiter cause i replaced my PCM.

when it does it to mine, it sometimes does it on take off when i give it a bit more gas than usual and also when im going at about 60-70 km/h and its trying to shift and it does that.
