Reverse lights troubleshoot

My back-up lights are not comming on when I shift into reverse. I was wondering if anyone would have any advice on troubleshooting this issue? is there a switch/sensor on the shifter? or a fuse? I have a manual transmission. I checked the bulbs and they're fine. Any advice would help
thanks.

I had that problem when I first got my ho, ended up being the reverse light switch, which can be found on the tranny. I went through two of them, one was broke when I get the car, and the new one I got I think must have been bad, because it only lasted a few months, the one I got now seems to be holding up ok.

But like said, check the easy things first: bulbs, fuses.

do you recall how much $ that switch is worth? Where is it located on the tranny? behind the shift cables?
