i was thinking of that but have it track half with one turn signal and track the other half with the other. like the led they have for pick ups under the tail gate.

i was actually looking for a way to do this... thanks black. (not for 3rd brake light though)
i'd like to do that style in my mirrors. put yellows around the inside, with each "click" of the turning signal, have it track from the outside, out to the tip of the mirror.

the only problem is... i think i'd get uber annoying, and very distracting at night.
maybe just set up the 3rd brake like that, from the center out. fully lit when on, but have it track outward from the center toward the direction your turning. (cuz then i won't have to watch it)
cav, ?

i have not desided on how i will be doing this.
there are soooooo many ways.
like the old thunderbirds?
i can tie them into my turn signals.
and make it go
.
..
...
and fill in from the center.
OR when it is just the brake, it does the cylon thing and when it
has the turn signal, it fills the whole things pointing in the direction of
where i am going...
AAARRRGGGG
so many different ways...

plus, its just a simple circuit. so you can draw out how to wire it, several different ways. mount the lights, and then change the wiring until you find something you really like.
quick disconnects ftw!

Add a few relays and some creative wiring, and you could have it do it all....
