not enough air by design???
Hey Ya'll,
I was just sitting in a traffic jam watching my temp needle bounce around. Once we were back rolling the temp went back to normal, but I started thinking about something; our Aleros (compared to other cars) have only a small space where air can get directly to the radiator.
Also, if I remember right what they taught us in school, the hottest part of the radiator should be right between the headlights, where most other cars have the grill, that will allow to cool it down faster.
So I'm wondering if our cars get enough air compared to others.
Any thoughts???

I've thought the same thing....unlike N-body malibus and grand am's, we don't have a grille up there. It seems like a crummy design and my car heats up as well. Usually it stays below the half mark but today in traffic I got up to the 3/4 mark so i turned my heat on full blast to help dissipate some heat.
i really don't think there's much you could do other than getting an auxillary switch for the fans to manually over-ride them.

hmmm ... I can't remember the make and model, but there was an asian car that had little vents next to the headlights (towards the inside) that kind of looked like the red triangles on my lousy photoshop pic below.
I wonder if it would make a big difference to do something similar on my Alero

Yeah, they run a bit warm, but the PCM will kick on the fans if necessary.
If it really bothers you, a manual fan switch coupled with a lower-temp thermostat help.

I think having a Little Intake would look sweet. Just below the old symbol.

Alot like that, but I'd like it Hood scoop style below the olds logo between the headlights on the same level with the bottom line.

I thought of putting vents in the hood ( like z34 lumina ) and Aurora like bumper holes or vent the center section between the lights.
