New Project "FrankNStein"
Ok so im thinking of starting a alero project. first off is to swap the oldsmobile front clip to the grand am gt one with the ram air hood. Next would be make the hood so it work as it should have from the factory. Put the the grand am wing with some nice looking rims. Paint would look like the 1970 442. Silver with black stripes. For the motor wanting to cept it a good on gas and not a horse power freak. Not sure at this moment what to do to it, maybe just a rebuild (car has 126k) but with a few mods here and there. But im just looking for some ideas for you guys. Thanks and ill cept you updated.

I don't like your ideas......You are wanting to put an Pontiac front clips on an Oldsmobile and then paint it like a classic oldsmobile 442, and not give it any power? ohhhh........

closer than anything available, yes, because nothing is available!!!!
I just hate to see the alero chopped up with pontiac parts....
and if you must, at least paint it a decent 1970 color, not silver.....sheez...
Like this color, p38!! oh so sexy!

i have found this out while looking on the web for parts. no one makes alot of aftermarket parts for the alero. And the silver was just a idea, thats why i posted it on here. That is a nice blue, but as you see its someone did a alero in that color. But im looking for something that wont stand out in a parking lot unless you know it. And that blue is a eye catcher. The black with gold or black with white is sleeper. But im just getting ideas at this moment

And about the power factor, as i said i want to cept it a gas save. So if i could have 300 horse power while getting good gas i would be happy. but as it stands a factory 3.4L gets no way close to that. I dynoed mine on a dynojet and it got 126 hp and 176ftlb.

I know, it's one of my old Alero's, and the color is more turquoise or teal, than blue. '71 Viking blue is a sexy color, so would '70 w30 ralleye red.
Your torque number seems high....

I actually woldn't mind seeing a GA SE front clip on an Alero, with an 05 front bumper. That's going to be as close as you'll get to a "factory freak" kind of look. And personally, I wouldn't go with an SC/T hood.

I have to agree with Kyle on this.
Silver is silver. It was silver in 1940, silver in 1970, silver in 2001, and guess what, in 2030 it will still be silver.
Trying to do a look alike of a 70 442 is a good idea, but using a Pontiac front clip to do it, not a good idea.
The car dynoed at 126 hp? It's a 4 cyl right? That's very low for a V6 which should be around 147 at the wheels. Torque does seem too high for a stock Alero
Klye, we all know your love affair with Paint code P38. Does Linsey know? I mean I think if you could marry it, you would
If your saying you nobdy makes aftermarket parts for the Alero, you don't know where to look. True there is no hood option, but you are saying there's nothing. Nowadays, you can mod ANYTHING

Couldn't agree with you more Ken. Im just excited cause im getting a CF Cowl Hood from Kyle....needs some fixing on the back corners but i plan on painting the top and sides of the hood maroon....then leave the sides of the cowl CF. Im pretty pumped! Car is in the shop right now getting the suspension restored....sorry im getting off topic lol.
BTW i thought the 3400 has over 200 ft lbs of torque? you really lose that much power through the wheels?! damn.....

The usual figure is 20% of the power is lost by the time it makes it to the road with an automatic trans.

I wish we could make a new rule....anyone even thinks about a GA front clip on an Alero gets perma-banned? Oh I wish.....all I want for Christmas!
Actually I LOVE the GA front end.....ON A GRAND AM.
