yeah this is not a weekend deal... you have to know how to weld to do custom motor mount, get the good cv axles for the swap you want to do, do the complete wiring and reprogramm your pcm if you swap to manual... if you stay automatic and don't want to reprogram , you need to swap the GP gauge cluster and tranny 4T65 as well because the stock alero tranny won't be tough enough for the 3800 and the wiring/programmation in the computer isn't the same

btw I kept mine manual because I had a 2,4 twin cam manual before I did the swap, it was easyer that way... mechanically talking... wiring is another story

It's a waste of money IMO.
With the cash you'll spend on making it work, you'll spend less on working the 3400 and be faster
Everybody thinks the 3800 s/c motor is the best V6 out there, it's good, but not that good, plus is weighs in at 200 lbs heavier than the 3400, so all the HP gain you'll get, will be wasted by the extra weight

i dont think wasted is the right word, because its gonna be faster than a stock 3400, but ur dead on about the money better being spent on building the 3400.

Yeah "wasted" probably isn't the best word, maybe more frustrating than it's worth would be better

I don't know, "waste of money" is pretty accurate. Sure you'll spend all kinds of money and have a big, fat 3800 that's faster than a stock 3400, but with that same money you could turbo the 3400 and have it be faster than a stock 3400...and a stock 3800 S/C....and a modified 3800 S/C. It's a no brainer...to me anyways.

Meh, this is true.
I guess it depends on what you want to do and the kind of $$$ you want to spend.
It puts the car in a different class too The car could fall out of the "Sport Compact" class since the motor is bigger than 3.5

sometimes you have to make that decision, i certainly wouldn't do the 3.8 swap, but i did kind of screw myself because twin screw superchargers are prohibited in the sport compact class but those reals are really only if you are racing professional series, they are gonna prohibit you from going to the track, or even sport compact event, just because of the 3.8 motor.......or whipple in my case.......

What are you running in the 1/4 mile right now?
Are you talking 250 at the wheels?
Jackel's car dynoed in the high 190's and my car was only .03 seconds slower in a heads up race.
I have only bolt ons, he's got a stage 2 cam with stage 2 heads, but he's got the stock lenght push rods and that is killing his HP, he should be around 260 or so with his set up.
We are both NA 3400's
And if you really want a s/c, there is on ava for the 3400. Yes a Eaton like on the 3800 sc motor

i dont think you would be able to fit a turbo underneath the hood of his car right now with the SCed 3800 in it
