Air Intake Override

is this "mod" safe.it pretty much overrides the sensor that plugs in the intake making the computer think the air temp is 32 degrees...make the engine run rich or something. would this hurt gas milage?

Why would you want to provide a false air intake temperature to the computer? Don't you want it using actual, accurate data when it chooses what information to use pertaining to its operation?

It makes the engine run richer because it thinks it's colder than it really is, which is just plain stupid.

/\ Ass backwards there buddy. Still don't do it. MPG will go in the shitter and you will make no more power, most likely less.

no need to do this kind of mod when your engine's stock your engine is perfectly tuned by the company to run perfect like it is.If you need more gas ,its because you boost or something like that!

What is up with all the uninformed answers lately? This thing is useless, whether you are stock or not, it is a cheesy resistor that tricks your car into not running correctly. Boost or other power adders will not make it ok to do this and if you try it with a boosted car you deserve the blown motor you will receive. Please from now on if you don't know what the hell you are talking about keep your mouth shut. (Not directed at the op, you just asked an innocent question.)

not quite, the factory tunes a car to be able to run in all enviroments its a default tune basically, thats why there are tuners and software so the factory tue can be adjusted for better poer and fuel economy, actualy the factory tune is fairly crappy.

also, the iat mod not only increases fuel output, but advances timing for the extra fuel and fake colder tempeature.

Your not going to get big power from a 10 cent resistor

Remember these things on eBay for $50.

don't know on the 3400 ecm or the 2,4 twin cam ecm... but in my L67 the iat is only calculating data for the timing, the fueling is calculated by the maf and ect.

Yep, just checked. Looks like IAT only adjusts spark timing on the LD9.

I guess the only thing you can do with a resistor on that place is to get the proper timing to have nitrous by example but this won't affect the fueling, maybe you can take a resistor that gives like 2 degres of advance and it will perform a little better but in the downside you will NEED to fill your car with 91 octane gas or more... but for like 5 hp this is not the best way to go

yes but if you wanna run safe the factory tuned way is the best one!
