need help with new box
so anyone i broke the seal on my last box because i guess i used 3/4" thick MDF and kinda rushed making it. what im looking to do this time is just use one of my HCCA 12.2 and hook both my 2400 amps up to it in a bigger box made with 1" MDF this time, and just sell off the second sub.
the current box i have in there right now is 17"x42"x7.5" and that is as big as the box can possibly go, but im switching from two subs to one and i cant seem to find the proper space i need for one of these subs to hit properly. they are orion HCCA 12.2 (the new 2009 models)
anyway the 2 fixed variables on the box are the height and depth, but i can change the width from 42" to anything smaller, i just need to find out the proper CU i need and change it.

Dud you got 3 cubic feet... Thats considering the outside dimensions...
These are 12's or 15's?
You MIGHT have enough room for 1 12 and get decent with it.
To small for a 15".

they are 12" dual 2 ohm
when i upgraded i didnt realize that these new models require so much space which is why i am changing my setup to only 1 sub on my 2 amps with a bigger box.

Wow, bad idea for that sub in our vehicles. There's alot more to a bandpass box than just throwing something together...
The HCAA 12.2 is very inefficient. I'd give it around 3cubes net to try to squeeze a little more efficiency out of it. Tune a bit higher on paper also due to our trunks like to tune a lot lower in vehicle.

You think ANY of this discussion pertains to a prefrabicated box?
Its all custom...
I build customs..
Fi Builds also.
If you got to maintain the box and want it unique:
I would make it as large as possible. Invert the sub as you have been and use a 6" Aero port externally also.

I will stick with my earlier statement.
Make the box as large as you can. Invert mount the sub and the 6" Aero port tuned to whatever you want it to.

What's the benefit of keeping the sub inverted? Just curious.

Doesnt take away an airspace from the box. Same deal with the port...
Not like he has much room to work with anyhow.

Just throwing out a random tuning means nothing...
Grim has alot less space than you lol. He does have all this air ride stuff...
I agree with Ryan on this one. Make the box as big as you can up to 3 cubes, and make everything external. Grim kind of has the wrong sub for his situation lol.
