wtf

hey, stereo is crapping out it seems like. idk what the deal is.
all this started yesterday. i start my car, and no radio. nothing. hitting all sorts of buttons, etc, checked fuses, everything seems to be good. when my car warms up, sometimes it comes on, sometimes it doesnt.
my stereo is a Pioneer DEH-P4900iB, with a chimes module thing, made by metra i think.

any ideas? driving in silence makes me insane.

I would pull it out and see if it makes a diff... it is pretty tight for aftermarket units. If you installed it (or whoever) and didnt cut anything out inside the dash the frame might be wedged up against your harness causing a poor connection depending where the plug is.

I have no experience with the chime module.. never used one, does the power or acc run through it??

man i wish our cars had more room for the head unit. i have a pioneer AVH-5700DVD and jesus christ it barely fits. it pops the plastic frame out just about every time im in the car.

You need to take a dremel or rotary tool(worked best for the small spot.) and cut the hole in the back frame larger to allow the unit to go in without obstuction.

pull it out, the wires are probably loose or messed up from being pushed so damn tight against that unneeded piece behind the stereo.
