Whats the differece in twincams?
Well my motors gone in my alero. I did some looking around my area and seen a few twin cams for some pretty good prices but they are older ones such as 96~99. What i was wanting to know would these drop in and hook up or not

They should drop in. The one i got was out of a 98 cavalier.

Stick with 99.5+
Some little differences in pre-99 that you probably don't want to deal with.

Yeah if everything goes good im gonna call this guy tommorow about a Sunfire GT wrecked and see what hes talking about price.

As long as you get just the engine and not the trans, it should be almost identical. the trans on J-bods were geared differently. (IIRC, the 2.4 in the Alero/GAse were geared more aggressively)

Pre 99.5 use a different knock sensor and also have egr. You can use your manifolds and eliminate the egr. The knock sensor must be changed and it can be a pain to do so. Just ask smurf.

^really? maybe the guy we bought from didn't know wtf he was talking about then. He said mine came out of a 98 cav, but i didn't have a knock sensor to worry about as far as i remember. Just swapped the intake and other various little parts from the old engine and shoved it in. Maybe it was a newer engine than i thought.
