Has anyone had this problem? Ill leave the house at about 3/4 tank and once im driveing its just above the full mark. Then when i Get to my destination, wait about 2 ta 3 min. and it will rise a bit and then just jump to below E and the warnning light and chime come on then it slowly will rise back up to full.

Not sure what this is but if any one has any ideas please post, Thanks

I had a similar problem, mainly after filling up the tank. GM replaced the sensor for me. Actually they ended up replacing it twice.

MikeSS is an unknown quantity at this point
Alero's have a big problem with this.....my moms hangs around 1/4 for ever, then slowly rises to F, then drops to E and the gas light comes on. We have had it replace once, going in for a second time now. My parents just drive by milage, once 400KM are up, time to gas.

My car had a mild problem like this but is ok now, it just empties in the middle half of the tank quicker then the first or last 1/4 of the tank.

Ive also noticed the same problems that Malero has had, as it empties between 3/4 a tank and 1/4 a tank a lot faster, I can get about 100 miles to the first 1/4 tank, then about 75 to the second 1/4 and about 50 to the third 1/4, usually dont let it get to empty so dont know what the last 1/4 does. Should I have that checked out by my local GM dealer?

I had this problem with another GM car

The sending unit in the gas tank is "floating" which means that the ball will float and then sink. This will make the gauge go up and down
