Hey guys,

I have a list of things I need to fix/replace on the car that will run me around 2k. The worst of which is the coolant leak from the upper intake manifold (at least this is what i think it is). I was wondering what will happen if I don't get this problem taken care of. If it's an absolute fix then I'm going to probably be done with this car.

You will most likely blow your engine if you dont get the manifold changed. You can get a performance upper and lower intake manifold, iam guessing you have a V6. You an probably change it yourself I have a 16 year old friend who changed it on his beretta.

That's the lower intake manifold gasket that's leaking. You can bide your time until you get enough cash to get it fixed properly by changing the oil more often, and keeping a close eye on the oil and coolant levels. If the oil level goes up, and the coolant goes down, let the car sit overnight, and then crack the drain plug open just a hair. Any water thats in the engine oil will have settled to the bottom of the pan overnight. Once you've got the water out, check the oil level again to make sure. top off the coolant, and you'll be good for another week or so. Since knowing I have the LIMG leak, I've been changing the oil every 800 - 1000 miles, and using the technique explained above to keep tabs on the water.

**the water that's in the crankcase will dillute the oil, allowing more friction to take place in all of your engine's contact points ( bairings, etc ). not only that, but when the water gets in with the enging oil, it's just as bad as overfilling it with oil. KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON THOSE FLUIDS !

I plan on finding a low mileage motor to do the ported manifolds and throttle body to, so this 90k motor has only got to last me until said engine is found. That said, If you intend on keeping the car AND the motor that's in there, just fix it. I don't recommend what I'm doing to anyone here, I'm just getting the most out of this thing before I can make the swap happen.

you don't necessarily have the LIMG leak, not everybody does, i had both LIMG and UIMG leak, and i just let it goes till the engine blew, i then took the opportunity to buy a GAGT engine with only 3000 miles on it....
