So now that there is going to be no Hockey (NHL) this year, I was just wondering what everyone was going to do this winter to fill the spare time/void??? Only in Canada could this be a hot topic
Personally, I guess I'll follow Toronto's AHL team the RoadRunners this year, I know tickets are cheap cheap cheap to attend games too

Don't forget Hockeytown down here! It's all over the news, something about 2.5 mil the city loses if there's no Wings games. Not to mention all the bars around the Joe that will probably go under.

I have season tickets for the OHL's Ottawa 67's, so I really don't care. Cost me $300.00 for a complete season as opposed to maybe a couple of Senators games, and the juniors play a more exciting game than the NHL'ers anyhow. Hell, they play hard now in the hopes that they can get the Big contracts and not have to work that hard anylonger after that. Go 67's Go!

So this lockout, is it like a strike? I haven't been following this too closely. Can it not be resolved and have a shorter season? I guess that wouldn't be good for long term stats tho, huh? They better not be bickering about pay cuz those goons make assloads of coin doing what they love. I'd be set for life on 2 years of some of those salaries. I hope they don't make hockey lovers everywhere suffer for their greed.

Basically, the owners want a salary cap for each team, which would mean some of the guys making $10-$11,000,000 would have to take a pay cut. BOOO F***KING HOOO!

i hope its a full season, maybe that way more nba games will be televised instead of those lame hockey games that always take up espn and mean theres less options of what to watch during the winter.

Yeah, the players are gredy, the owners are not making any money ecspecially in small markets like Edmonton, Calgary, Columbus, etc.
We need a cap to make the teams more even, and the NHL as a whole better. (Although Toronto is one of the richest teams and they still can't win a f***ing cup) <_<

Whereas most of us north of the border could care less of the NBA. At least hockey players require more skill than being 6'8" + and be able to throw a ball in a hoop. Hell, first off you have to be tough enough to freeze your ass off skating around on ice :P

^ Calgary owners made tonnes this year ... but lost TONS the 7 years before.
But Cyber, there was a shortened season in 94-95 I believe, so it can be done. If you were a TRUE hockey fan you'd know. Damn band wagon fans that start watching hockey cuz the Flames did good in the playoffs...
So for this winter, I'm playing on 4 volleyball teams, 1 floor hockey team, and 1 football team. Should keep me busy

^Hey, you gotta admit that without us band wagon fans you wouldn't have had nearly as much fun during the playoffs, so don't damn us too much . I only watch when it's exciting, I'm definitely not a TRUE hockey fan, nothing wrong with that.

Awww, Comon Guys. Just because Canada keeps winning all the cups and the US can't is no reason to knock one of the greatest sports in the world. Hockey+Great Beer+Hot Women = Canada............

Honestly the best time was on 17th after the series win over vancouver. Before the bandwagon/posers took over.
And then all the bandwagon/posers bought up all the playoff tickets and left the true fans sitting in their living rooms to watch.
The Flames had pretty damn good attendance considering the 7 year playoff drought, and I would have been just fine with it if the people that were still attending a few games a year for those 7 years were the only ones to make it out to the playoff games/parties in the street.
