Wired up a deh-6500 for a 96 concorde, after installing the unit I can only get highs for the most part, even the stock HU managed bass, but for some reason I can't pull a thing on this

9-11 speaker setup all pre wired stock, harness is pieced together right, there's power, cd's and radio work fine but no bass still... any ideas?

Try adjusting some of the settings. Once my head unit was installed the settings were all messed up and it took me a day to learrn how to work everything and to get it to sound right

the only thing that can change the signal is a capacitor or an inductor inline with the speaker, the wires are simply signal carriers, there should be no reason for it to "remove" bass. there might be a problem with the cpu not generating a signal, i'll ask one of the guys at work for you if its a common problem with that particular HU.

thx man

it's just the weirdest thing

the stock unit still has no problem, she had an aftermarket in before with no problem, up until this one

We're gonna try replacing the stereo for the hell of it since i toyed with every setting on it with no luck, it didn't seem to be catching all speakers either

i'll keep this updated later

yeah according to one of the guys i work with who actually works on that particular deck, its not a big common thing but it does happen, he thinks that either the speakers are blown or the output circuit is shot. just relaying the message

ok update to the stereo, still no progress in resurrecting the bass

replaced harness
replaced stereo

there was a deck in before, and what i dug out were 2 rca's *hanging behind* and 2 misc. wires that were attached to the stock harness (via clips, not attached but connected as to keep from missing)

from the stereo, there are 2 rca females running for rear output and only the system remote and mute wire hangin off the harness

any ideas still?

If you are still working with the Pioneer, try this: I know you messed with the settings with the radio on, but did you turn it off? When you turn that particular radio off you will be able to set various settings by holding the FUNC button dowm until it gives you a choice of settings to adjust. Scroll through that and you will find various functions concerning the subs. There is one menu you can use to turn off the rear speakers and use the front speakers in combination with your subs. The other setting will play only the front and rear speakers, minus the subs. This takes us to another menu that will allow you to choose the preout you are using to run the rca's from the subs to the head unit. Try messing around with these settings and let me know what happens. I'm pretty sure the 6500 has a choice between the three different pre-outs in the back of the radio. One of those pre-outs is dedicated solely to subs, try switching the wires to that pre-out.

resurrecting the dead here

but since I had the time

The stereo after being re-wired to my harness works fine in my car

wired to hers still the same problems so it's definately something along the wiring, could a bad ground cause this problem i'm wondering? that'd just keep it from powering up unless i'm wrong here

Ok, this may sound very silly, but its worth a shot. Try reversing the wires on ONE of the speakers, JUST ONE. See if that makes it better. Buddy of mine had a pioneer deck installed, then we put in some 6x9's and could not figure out why the bass was so crappy. All the wires were correct, but then after days and days of screwing around with everything we could think of, I switched the wires on just one speaker and it blew me away cause one speaker was pushing out while the other speaker was pulling in cause they were wired opposite. The sounds were essentially cancelling each other out. Stupid and simple, but worth a try

haha!

no

problem in her car is still not fixed, however it is pinpointed down to the wiring in her car. The unit is fine, like i said i rewired it to my car and had no problems

So now it's gonna be all about toying with her car or leaving it to being installed somewhere that'll back it. They're gonna have a hell of a time doin this one if they think it's just about rewiring it

heh thanks though, it's definately a wiring issue

Does the car have any bass blockers installed behind the speakers?

not sure, the harness i picked up was at best buy, metra harness i believe under the best buy logo of course

I think we're gonna end up having her car taken in. Best buy harness look LIKE poop, every single one they stocked had bent prongs, incredibly unprofessional quality.

All the wiring in her car = hooked up correctly to the harness, can't break past what's messing up the sound, she'll be taking it in. I just want to know why it's bunnying up right now, I've toyed with it enough
