Crankshaft Position Sensor

OK I have kinda posted this already. But im getting a P0336 code and its a CPS code. I have a new motor and have replaced both sensors. I would just like to know everything that could make this code come on.

According to my FSM, P0336 is set when the ratio of 24x reference pulses to 3x reference pulses received by the PCM is incorrect when the engine is running and 3x pulses are being received by the PCM for a minumum of 3 seconds.

Possible fixes/trouble souces are:
  • Incorrect harness routing near the secondary ignition components
  • Ignition Coil arcing to the wiring harness or ignition control module (check ignition coils for cracks, carbon tracking, or other signs of damage)
  • Secondary ignition wires arcing to the wiring harness

BTW - P0336 = 24X Reference Signal Circuit

Good Luck - hopefully it is one of these....

You didn't recently install an underdrive pulley did you? Did you check if the reluctor was still inside the crank pulley for the sensor?

Nope no underdrive pulley its all stock in the bay. But i think we have fixed the problem. The wire harness to the sensor was melted. Changed the harness and boom its alll fixed.
