alright, one day i drove to work. stereo was working fine, happily thumping away. when i came out of work... nothing. at first i thought it was a fuse. i checked all fuses, all were fine. then i thought that it might be the amp going bad, so i switched it out with my old amp/subs. still, nothing. any idea what the problem might be? i'm going crazy trying to figure it out, and i miss my bass

Is it just a No bass issue.. or a no sound period...
you said you checked the fuses... but did you use a testlight or multmeter to see if there is voltage at the amp, both 12v and remote.... check the ground, check the remote fuse on the deck... maybe that went...
Need more info...
Test light that beyotch

yeah, i was all over with the test light. the rest of the speakers have sound, just not the subs. the amp isn't getting any power, this i can tell because it glows blue when it's on/getting signal from the head unit

ok.... so is there power at the amp where the 12v lead attaches? or no? is there power at the remote? or no?....
Because if there is power at the 12v and not the remote, then your amp isnt getting a remote signal from the deck, and thus not telling the amp too turn on... if this happens trace the remote back to the deck and check the remote fuse... most decks have a fuse for the remote... well good decks
if this the case, take a length of wire and jump the 12v and remote, see if the amp turns on.
