Lost sound quality when installed new cd player?
Alright guys I am asking this question for my buddy! Recently his car got broke into and old cd player was stolen, it made factory speakers sound really good in comparison to the stock stereo. After insurance money came in he went out and bought another cd player (it is a Pioneer DEH-P7700MP) however, it is now installed and the factory speakers sound terrible (almost no bass, and hardly any mids or highs). We messed with all the settings that we knew of or could find in the manual and only minor progress was made. So do you guys know of anything else that can be done (besides a new player or adding speakers/subs) I am assuming with the settings or something we missed, any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to go back over your wiring...you messed something up...maybe you've got 2 wires touching somewhere or a bad connection...if everything else stayed the same, there's no reason for the loss of power...

If you use the control called "volume" it will make it louder so there will be more bass/mids/highs.

If he has a sound system a good mistake is with the rca wires...make sure red is connected to red on amp/cd player...and same with white/black whatever color.Thats sounds to me like the problem (if he has a system that is)
NVM post skimming and didnt see the FACTORY SPEAKERS part...so yea check you wire harness wires and make sure the power antenna is ran into the main power wire also.

^^^
What the hell were you getting at? Just havign the RCAs switched?
Im going to put my money on cancellation due to improper wiring- in other words a speaker, two, three or all are running out of phase.
Even if you have just one speaker running out of phase, it can dramaticaly decrease overall sound quality.

I will definatly check the wiring, but why do I have to hook the power antenna wire to the main power (I thought that was just used for power antenna's like on lincoln towncars or honda's). By the way this is on a 2000 Grand Am.

I don't think the power antenna affects it because I just put a cd player in another friends Olds Intrique and didn't use the power antenna and his sounds fine!
