So i'm drivin back to Hampton from Richmond the other day, and my amp starts cuttin in and out, so i turn down the volume, and the bass and continue to cruise back. Then i look in the trunk, and the fuses on my amp are all burned, charred, or melted to the amp. I take it to my local shops and they tell me it must have been drawing WAYY too much current for something like that to happen. But i can't figure out why, there were 4 15A fuses on the amp, so i but a 60 A fuse on my power lead, did i do something wrong . please help, cause i can't afford to blow another 300 bucks on a new amp. Also any suggestion on what to get next, got 2 Infinity 12's in a sealed box. The dead amp is a Rockford Fosgate 1000bd, it bumped while i had it, but now itz sittin on the floor in my living room with my subs and box

might be how your subs are hooked up to the amp...i had that problem once where i was blowing fuses and it turned out to be that i wired the load wrong (ohms)

What gauge power cables were you using? Because even 60A can fry a whole lot of stuff.

i use 200 amp on a 300 watt 4 channel amp(used to have another amp). should be fine as long as the wattage is high enough. but it sounds like your ohms are set to low with how you have your subs wired.
oh and send me that rockford amp.

how long did you have the system installed/working for? becuase usually if you wire the amp 2 low it will go into protect on a regular basis, or something like that shutdown? did it do that? or not?
how were they wired..
and btw the fuse's should have gone long b4 the caused poop to melt, thats why they're there... unless some one uped the value of the fuses on the amp and you werent aware of it...

I guess i've had this set-up for about 2 months, with no problems at all, can't figure it out, and my subs were wired down to 2 ohms, which should not have been a problem on this amp. I'm clueless

yea, 2 ohms should be ok, i dont wanna hate... but from what ive heard rockford amps like to give out after a lil while...
did it ever shutdown, or get hot? because if it did on a regular basis you prolly melted poop inside from the heat...

My friend got it in Summer 2002, and he never had any problems with it, it never cut out on me, overheated, or anything. But i kno i'll never buy a RF amp again, I already didn't like their subs, and now i have a reason to hate their amps!!! issed:
